Japanese company Nintendo has postponed pre-orders for the Switch 2 in the United States in response to a new set of tariffs announced by President Donald Trump.
This is reported in the Engadget technology blog.
The article notes that the duties were introduced this week, as first reported by the American website Polygon.
Pre-orders in the United States were supposed to open on April 9th. Now they have been postponed indefinitely.
It should be noted that on April 2, Nintendo officially announced the Switch 2, and in the United States, this device will cost $450.
A few hours later, the Trump administration said it would impose a wide range of new tariffs targeting a wide range of countries, including Japan, China and Vietnam.
Products from the latter two countries, where Nintendo manufactures most of its equipment, will be subject to import duties of 54 and 46 percent, respectively.
